Before check-in
What to prepare, health requirements and the assessment process before your dog’s first stay.
What should I bring for my dog's stay?
To help your dog feel settled, please bring the following:
Essentials
- Leash: a slip lead or harness, used at check-in and on walks.
- Food: the dry food, fresh food or canned food your dog normally eats. Please pack fresh food in daily portions; if your dog has a special diet or allergies, please let us know in advance.
- Medication: please bring any oral medication, supplements or topical treatments, with written instructions; our staff will help give them as directed.
Provided on site, no need to bring
- Beds, food and water bowls, and toys.
- Refrigerated/frozen food storage and heating.
- In-house meals (extra charge), for owners who can’t easily prepare meals.
Dogs on their first stay or who are on the shy side
We suggest bringing a familiar small blanket, sleeping mat or a piece of clothing that smells like you, to help your dog relax in a new place.
Keeping your dog’s usual diet is the best way to prevent stomach upset and stress, so please be sure to bring food and any necessary medication.
Which vaccines are required, and what proof do I need to bring?
Dogs staying for boarding or daycare must meet the following requirements:
- Completedrabies vaccine and core (multi-in-one) vaccines, and it must be up to date.
- Regular internal and external parasite prevention.
- No contagious diseases.
On your first visit, please allow about 20 minutes to confirm details: we scan the owner’s ID for our records, and please show the Original vaccination booklet stamped by a vet.
Dogs with incomplete or expired vaccinations can’t be booked for boarding or daycare.
Which dogs need a daycare assessment before boarding?
Our facility is an open space where dogs spend time together. Dogs with any of the following must complete a daycare assessment first; we can book boarding once we’ve confirmed they adjust well:
- Separation anxiety
- Easily nervous or timid
- Limited social experience
- Has shown aggressive, charging, or mounting behavior
- Overreacts to new environments or stimuli
- Unneutered males (hormones can cause bigger swings in behavior)
- Large dogs prone to anxiety
What the daycare assessment checks
- Whether your dog can adapt to an open environment
- Social interaction with other dogs
- Whether boarding is a good fit, and the right zone, activity level or private room
- Less stress on the first stay
After the assessment, we’ll share our observations of your dog and our recommendations.
Large dogs and bloat (GDV)
Bloat (GDV) is an emergency more common in large and deep-chested breeds, such as German Shepherds, Dobermans, Taiwan Dogs, Golden Retrievers, and Labradors. Possible triggers include exercise right before or after meals, eating too fast, emotional stress, or changes in environment, and sometimes there is no clear cause.
If a large dog stays tense in an unfamiliar place, pants heavily, paces nonstop, or can’t relax or sleep, the stress can upset stomach movement and cause more air swallowing, raising the risk of bloat (GDV). That’s why large dogs prone to anxiety must complete a daycare assessment first before we confirm whether boarding is a good fit.
Our safety measures
- Plenty of rest is scheduled before and after meals, with no vigorous running after eating
- Low-stimulation settings based on each dog’s mood
- Management by age and zone, with social activities split into smaller groups as needed
- Regular checks on every dog’s behavior
We are about a 1-hour drive (longer in traffic) from the nearest emergency vet hospital that can treat bloat (GDV). In an emergency, we’ll contact owners right away and help get the dog to a vet.
Do you accept unneutered dogs?
Yes. During their stay, unneutered dogs need a Private room:
- Small room +NT$400/night
- Large room +NT$600/night
Our staff will try to arrange socializing based on each dog’s personality and interactions. If the dog is calm and gets along well, they’ll still join indoor and outdoor activities; during rest time, at night, or whenever we can’t watch closely the whole time, they stay in their private room.
This is because hormones make unneutered dogs more likely to mark, get overexcited or mount. Even if your dog is perfectly fine, some other dogs may be more sensitive around them and become nervous, fixated or confrontational. So they need closer supervision to lower the risk of incidents.
Female dogs in heat (about 1–2 weeks before, during and after heat) can’t be booked for boarding or daycare. If you’re not sure whether she’s close to her heat, please check with your vet first.
Can I visit first? What are the visiting rules?
Visits are welcome. To protect the safety and routine of the dogs in our care, visits are “by appointment, set time slots, limited groups”:
- Booking:Please book via LINE; a booking is confirmed only once you receive our confirmation. Same-day bookings are not accepted.
- Spots: We host only 3 visiting families per day; time slots follow that day’s announcement.
- Time: About 15–20 minutes per visit; no visits during quiet time 12–2 pm.
- Bringing your dog: You’re welcome to bring your dog, but visiting dogs don’t go upstairs or have contact with the dogs boarding with us.
- Please be on time:During visits, the dogs inside need to pause activities and be kept in separate zones; if you’re very late, we may not be able to fit your visit in.

How are daily activities planned during boarding?
We plan suitable activities for each dog based on the weather and their size, age, personality and energy level.
When the weather is nice
We take dogs out to our fully fenced garden of about 400-ping (about 1,300 m²). Large and small dogs go out separately, grouped by personality (playful, sensitive, calm) and social skills.
Activities
- Garden walks and free exploring: sniffing, exploring and burning energy on the lawn.
- Outdoor running and play: running, ball games or light exercise based on stamina.
- Swimming and water play: seasonal, for dogs who love water.
- Indoor activities: when it’s too hot, too cold or raining, we offer social play, puzzle games and calm, low-stimulation activities.
Rest time
We schedule enough rest between activities to avoid overtiredness and overexcitement, which also lowers the risk of bloat (GDV) in large dogs. Our staff adjust activity levels to each dog’s age, health and personality.
Do you have an outdoor area? Where do dogs go potty during their stay?
Yes. Dogs mainly go potty in these areas:
- 400-ping garden (fully fenced):Where dogs are most relaxed and go most often.
- Outdoor balcony: An alternative on rainy days when the garden isn’t an option.
- Indoor open area: It carries other dogs’ scent, so dogs will also go naturally when needed.
- Regular outings: When weather allows, we take dogs out on a schedule to help keep their potty routine.
Our staff take dogs to the garden or balcony regularly, watch for signs of holding it in or looking for a spot, and clean and disinfect right away.
Will my dog have accidents at home afterward?
Usually not. Boarding is a short-term setting; dogs can tell home and the hotel apart, and go back to their usual habits once home.
If your dog has special habits (for example, only going on grass or only on walks, or using pee pads), please let us know in advance and we’ll follow their routine.
Will my dog be kept alone at Mini Boarding House?
No. We’re cage-free, and dogs spend the day in open spaces. We group dogs by personality, size, energy level, social skills and life experience so each one is in the right setting:
- Playful dogs: placed in the high-energy zone to play with dogs of similar energy.
- Timid, slow-to-warm-up dogs: as long as they show no aggression, they can still join the shared areas, but we place them in smaller groups in a quieter setting, with a caregiver guiding them one-on-one, step by step.
- Senior or sensitive dogs: placed in low-stimulation areas first.
- Dogs that start fights, keep body-slamming or provoking, or are hostile toward dogs or people: they don’t enter the shared area and instead stay in a private room or a separate area.
Our staff watch dogs’ body language at all times. At the first sign of growling, stiffening or over-the-top chasing, they step in right away, lead the dog away or adjust the zones.
A private room will be arranged if any of the following happens during the stay
- Mounting, body-slamming or fixating
- Making other dogs uneasy or stressed
- Excessive marking or strong possessive behavior
- Risk of aggression or biting
- Anxiety or inability to settle
- Behavior swings due to being unneutered
Private room fees: small room +NT$400/day, large room +NT$600/day.
What if dogs get into a fight?
We focus on prevention and have a clear procedure.
Prevention
- Before activities, dogs are grouped by personality, play style, energy level and size.
- Our staff are trained to read dog behavior and watch at all times for warning signs such as staring, growling, pinned-back ears, a stiff tail and resource guarding.
- At the first sign of conflict, staff step in right away with verbal cues or by physically blocking, separate the dogs, or move them to a quieter area.
If there’s a minor scuffle
- Stop it right away and separate the dogs.
- We check both dogs for red marks, scrapes or signs of stress, and clean and disinfect if needed.
- We notify the owner, with photos and how it was handled.
- We adjust later arrangements, such as separate zones, less stimulation or on-leash activities; if issues keep happening, we arrange a private room.
What if my dog gets hurt during their stay?
In an open environment, dogs run, explore, brush against plants and branches, or bump into friends while playing, so minor scrapes, surface scratches or small red marks can occasionally happen. This is common, and we watch for it and take care of it:
- Step in: If we spot a problem, we step in right away, redirect their attention, or move the dog away.
- Check: We check the whole body for red spots, scratches or scrapes, and clean and disinfect as needed.
- Notify:We tell the owner what happened and send photos of the injury and how it was treated.
- Adjust:Depending on the situation, we switch to zoned activities, lower stimulation, keep the dog leashed at all times, or arrange a private room if needed.
If this concerns you, just tell us before check-in. We can switch to individual leashed walks, or limit free running for a more conservative activity plan.

We also offer 15-day and 30-day packages, MINI VIP membership rates and a welcome gift for new members; see Prices & packages. Please confirm actual prices via our LINE official account.
How are boarding fees calculated? Is there an extra charge for late pickup?
Boarding is counted 24 hours = one night, counted from the time your dog actually checks in.
- For example, check in at 10:00 am on 5/5 and pick up before 10:00 am on 5/6: that counts as one night.
- If your dog is picked up more than 24 hours later, the extra time is charged at the daycare rate (daycare is charged in 6-hour units). For example, if pickup is at 4:00 pm on 5/6, more than 6 hours over, one daycare fee is charged.
- More than 12 hours over (e.g., after 9:30 pm that day) is charged as a second night of boarding.
Pickup and drop-off are scheduled by the day’s route, so the drop-off time may differ from the check-in time. To avoid extra daycare fees, you can also pick up your dog from us yourself.

- Traffic:If traffic means we need to come earlier or later, we will call to let you know.

After coming home
Common things you may notice after a stay. Most are perfectly normal.
My dog lost weight after boarding. Is that normal?
Slight weight loss is common, usually because:
- Much more activity: Every day they run, socialize and play in our 400-ping (about 1,300 m²) garden, and go to the beach when the weather is nice, so they exercise far more than at home.
- Excitement and novelty:A new place and new friends make dogs burn more energy.
Once home and back on their usual diet and routine, dogs usually return to their normal weight within 3–7 days.
During the stay, our staff keep an eye on appetite, energy and body condition, and will let you know if there’s a noticeable change. If you’d like to avoid weight loss, tell us in advance and we can adjust portions, add meals or lower activity levels.
My dog keeps drinking water after coming home. Did they drink too little during the stay?
Some dogs drink a bit less for a short time while boarding. Common reasons:
- Too absorbed in play:Busy playing with friends and running in the garden, they forget to drink for a while.
- New surroundings: After a long ride and while still checking out the place, they’ll drink normally again once relaxed.
How we make sure dogs drink
- There are multiple clean water bowls indoors, in the garden, on the balcony and in rest areas, changed regularly.
- Our staff actively encourage dogs to drink and offer water more often in hot weather.
- Dogs that are picky about bowls can try a different bowl shape or way of drinking.
Most dogs drink normally again within 1–3 hours. If a dog refuses water for a long time, seems lethargic or acts clearly unusual, we’ll let you know and step up care.
Why is my dog extra tired and sleeping a lot after coming home?
This is very common and completely normal. During their stay, dogs run in the garden every day, play with other dogs, explore and play with our staff, so their bodies and brains get a lot of stimulation. It’s like people who spend several days traveling or at events and just want a good rest once they’re home.
Many dogs sleep more and are less active for 24–48 hours after coming home, then return to their usual rhythm after a day or two of rest. As long as your dog is eating, drinking and acting normally, there’s no need to worry.
Any other questions?
Every dog is different. Tell us your dog’s age, size and personality, and we’ll help you plan the best boarding or daycare for them.
